A contemporary sound immersed in the elements of traditional music…
Music inspiration comes mainly from Rebekah’s love of Scotland, its wilderness, people and music scene. Spending as much time as possible in the Hebrides walking the beautiful beaches and absorbing and picking up new tunes and songs at the local sessions.
Rebekah has played the Violin since the early age of 3 and a half. Primary instruments are Fiddle, Guitar, Tenor Guitar and Voice in a concert/gig environment although she ventures to Piano, Accordion and other instruments in the studio.
Having released two solo albums (Northern Skies & Improvising Around The Sun) and continuing to play her own and contemporary interpretations of both traditional and modern day songs. Rebekah now performs live as a duo with guitarist Lee Huck enabling Rebekah to perform the traditional fiddle tunes she has been collecting over the past few years. This adds an extra dimension to her live performances… sure to get your feet tapping.
Rebekah plays festivals, folk clubs, pubs and clubs through to private parties and weddings and can adapt a set list for most occasions.
Recordings…
Rebekah recorded and released her debut album Northern Skies (4 stars R2 Magazine) in February 2010 and Improvising Around the Sun (5 stars R2 Magazine) was released in 2012, both to great reviews and acclaim. Receiving airplay from BBC Radio 2 (Mike Harding Show), BBC Leeds with the Durbervilles, BBC Shropshire with Genevieve Tudor and BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction) to name but a few along with many regional and internet based radio programmes. Over the last few years she has supported many great artists including David Swarbrick, Martin Carthy, Martin Simpson and Jez Lowe with and without the Bad Pennies.
Other Projects…
Rebekah also plays with Joe Solo (fiddle & backing vocals) on occasions, both in the studio and at live performances. She has contributed to many of Joe’s albums to date including: No Pasaran, Left Turn on Liberty Lane, Never Be Defeated, Not on Our Watch & Headscarves & Hurricanes.
Rebekah is available for session work for live performances and the recording studio.
Reviews…
Northern Skies
Rebekah Findlay’s independently released debut album, Northern Skies, is a mix of self-penned and traditional songs that showcase a multi-talented artist…. Yesterday I hadn’t heard of Rebekah Findlay. Today I’m left in no doubt that she’s a skilled songwriter, musician, arranger and graphic artist.

Improvising Around The Sun
Rebekah’s rapidly making a name for herself as one of the region’s most compelling musical personalities, and her captivating live presence also translates well to disc, which is a definite bonus in this day and age where fickle tastes and superficial attention spans predominate. And what’s more, Rebekah knows how to put together a disc that will stand the test of time, for she has an acute feel for flow and texture and exactly what sounds right for each song….
