I am lucky enough to live in the heart of North Yorkshire and spend my spare time in the Outer Hebrides with my gorgeous dog Hatch, and my hubby, Lee. I draw my inspiration from these wonderful places focussing on land, coast and wildlife. I explore less tangible aspects such as movement, sound, weather, texture and mark making.
Working in mixed media, predominantly acrylic, inks, watercolour, pencil & collage, I love to experiment and explore materials, using them in non-traditional ways and to their full potential.
My art takes an illustrative form, working mainly from sketchbook, memories and imagination and I would describe my artwork as ‘Folk Art’ (with a Yorkshire twist), a genre which embraces a naive style, decoration and an interpretation of form and perspective.
I am also a working musician. I have released two solo albums, Northern Skies & Improvising Around The Sun. I work as a session musician for a number of other musicians. I have played the violin since the early age of three and a half and my love of the Hebrides extends to the wonderful musical heritage found there. More details of my music can be found here…
