A contemporary sound immersed in the elements of traditional music...
Music inspiration comes mainly from Rebekah's love of Scotland, it's wilderness, people and music scene. Spending as much time as possible in the Hebrides walking the beautiful beaches and absorbing and picking up new tunes and songs at the local sessions.
Rebekah has played the violin since the early age of 3 and a half. Primary instruments are Fiddle, Guitar, Tenor Guitar and Voice in a concert/gig environment although she ventures to piano, accordion and other instruments in the studio.
Having released two solo albums (Northern Skies & Improvising Around The Sun) and continuing to play her own and contemporary interpretations of both traditional and modern day songs. Rebekah now performs live as a trio, featuring percussionist Joolz Cavell and guitarist Lee Huck. The new line up enables Rebekah to perform live the traditional fiddle tunes she has been collecting over the past few years. Adding an extra dimension to her live performances... sure to get your feet tapping.
Rebekah plays festivals, folk clubs, pubs and clubs through to private parties and weddings and can adapt a set list for most occaisions.
Rebekah recorded and released her debut album NORTHERN SKIES (4 stars R2 Magazine) in February 2010 to great reviews and acclaim. Receiving airplay from BBC radio 2 (Mike Harding Show), BBC Leeds with the Durbervilles, BBC Shropshire with Genevieve Tudor and BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction) to name but a few along with many regional and internet based radio programs. Over the last few years she has supported many great artists including David Swarbrick, Martin Carthy, Martin Simpson and Jez Lowe with and without the Bad Pennies.
In 2012 Rebekah released her follow up album, IMPROVISING AROUND THE SUN. The album recieved a 5 star review from R2 Magazine and again recieved similar airplay across major BBC stations including BBC Radio 2 (Mike Harding Folk Show).
Rebekah also plays with Joe Solo (fiddle & backing vocals) on occaisons, both in the studio and at live performances. She has contributed to 2 of Joes albums to date, No Pasaran and Left Turn on Liberty Lane.
